Who Was Tamika Huston?

Tamika Huston was born on the 11th of December, 1979, in the South Carolinian region of Spartanburg. 24-year-old Tamika with big dreams wanted to become a singer; she showed constant signs of great ambition from a very young age. She was fondly remembered by her friends family for being the life of the party and having an amazing personality with a bright aura around her. Her potential to achieve a lot in life was easily visible at the age of 24.

The Disappearance

Tamika was last seen alive on May 27, 2004. When her family realized they hadn’t heard from her, they reported her missing to the Spartanburg Police Department on June 14, 2004. Early signs pointed to foul play: her car, a 1991 Honda CRX, was found abandoned, and her dog was left unfed in her apartment—an uncharacteristic move for someone known to deeply care for her pet.

Contrary to the signs there were, the case wasn’t being reported in the media as much. Due to the fact that there was very little publicity, it became difficult to pursue the investigation, which meant that the family had to put in a lot more effort.

The authorities spent more than a year trying to understand what possible could have led to Tamika’s vanishing. A major breakthrough in the case came in 2005 when it was revealed to investigators that Tamika’s ex-boyfriend, Christopher Lamont Hampton, had killed her in an argument. In 2006, he was found guilty of her murder and received life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
