In-depth review on Fitbit Charge 5

According to fitness trainer – Scott Capelin, the recent launch of the Fitbit Charge 5 has taken the market by storm with its new AMOLED display, bringing the smart band market to another level. For the ones who are planning to buy and in their research phase, you are in the right place.

In today’s article, health and fitness expert Scott Capelin will give you an in-depth review of everything you need to know about the new Fitbit Charge 5.

New Additions

The new Fitbit series has been equipped with multiple interesting features and major upgrades, which significantly improve user experience:

  • AMOLED colour touchscreen display
  • The new display is 2 times brighter than the last-gen charge 4 band.
  • New always-on display
  • A new and improved battery that is claimed to work for 7 days by the company.
  • Sleeker and smarter than the charge 4.

The addition of new and improved AMOLED is the key feature to note, along with its battery and AOD additions. It is exciting to see how it will work with the Fitbit OS. With the recent updates to the new Fitbit Charge 5, there are some things that have been removed from this series:

  • Weather app is removed
  • Spotify music control has been removed
  • Altimeter is removed

These features should be added in the next software upgrades, however, the company has said that it won’t come with a snoring tracker as it lacks a microphone. The key improvements are in the hardware itself. A new AMOLED panel has been added, making it easy to use in broad daylight. The battery is now bigger with the ability to last 7 days on one charge. A slimmer outlook is also introduced.

In the Box Content

Fitbit is known for making new cables for every new product launched. This time is no different. The box content includes:

1- Charging cable

2- Extra straps

3- Paperwork

4- Fitbit charge 5

Review

To summarize the new Fitbit Charge 5 quality, here are some first impressions and overall experience:

From the first touch, the in-hand feel of this product feels very premium. Its AMOLED display is underappreciated. Unlike the charge 4 bands, this new band with AMOLED display performs exceptionally well under the bright sun and outdoors. The whole charge 5 is a touch screen with the addition of an AMOLED panel. The touch response of this band is generally satisfactory, you will have no issues using it during a workout even if it has sweat on it.

The display has features such as self-locking, which happens when you are not looking at it. You can change it and adjust within 3 levels of brightness. AOD stayed on the entire time, yet will dim itself on a readable level.

For day-to-day use, the Fitbit Charge 5 is the best in every aspect of display battery and performance, says Scott Capelin. The measurement of heart rate is not accurate consistently. The tightening of the band could also result in dropping out on GPS.
